CreativItaly – A Journey Through Italian Creativity

On October 24, the Italian permanent Delegation organized the event « CreativItaly: A Journey Through Italian Creativity » at UNESCO, in cooperation with the cities of Bergamo, Biella, Como and Trieste with a view to supporting their candidature to the UNESCO network of creative cities.

Numerous permanent Delegates and UNESCO high-ranking officials attended the evening. All four cities where represented by their Mayor, and presented the creativity of their projects and the key elements of their candidature.

Bergamo presented its local « gastronomy » namely with a selection of typical cheeses (9 out of the Italian 50 DOP cheeses); Biella and Como, both candidates for the « craftsmanship » category, presented the innovative spirit of their high-quality textile production and the respect for their territories ; Trieste, candidate as a city of « literature », illustrated its role on the Italian and European literary scene, but also its cultural and scientific vocation with its scientific pole composed by two institutions working under the auspices of UNESCO: the Centre for Theoretical Physics  (ICTP) and the World Academy of Science (TWAS).
