Italy participated in a very profiled way in the World Conference on Culture and Arts Education, held February 13-15, 2024 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with a delegation composed of representatives from the Ministry of University and Research, Education and Merit, and Culture. In particular, Sen. Alessandra Gallone, Advisor to the Minister of University and Research, spoke in Ministerial Session 1 dedicated to inclusion in access to cultural and arts education.

The conference brought together as many as 1,000 stakeholders from the fields of Culture and Education, including 85 ministers or deputy ministers, 125 representatives of member states, as well as United Nations Agencies, intergovernmental organizations, experts, NGOs, public and private sectors, with the aim of sharing best practices and innovative ideas to promote and strengthen a global alliance for culture and arts education.

At the conclusion of the three days of work and a process that was meant to be participatory and inclusive, the Framework for Culture and Arts Education was adopted, which will support Member States in defining integrated strategies and policies for the renewal of national education systems by expanding their cultural arts dimension, and investing in the acquisition of skills and competencies that respond to contemporary needs and opportunities. By the end of the year, UNESCO will develop Guidelines that can help Member States concretely implement the adopted Framework.
