Italian Research Day in the World 2023 – Event at OECD Conference Center

On April 14th, on the occasion of Italian Research Day in the World 2023, the Permanent representations of Italy to International Organisations and UNESCO in Paris organised a seminar called “International partnerships: opportunities for competitiveness and recovery in the era of green and digital transformation” at OECD Conference Center.

The main topic of the event was the fostering of connections and the exchange of good practices among the five “hubs” chosen by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) in the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR): simulations, calculation and analysis of high performance data, sustainable agriculture, the development of gene therapy and RNA therapeutics, sustainable mobility and biodiversity.

The list of speakers included Marcella Panucci, Head of Cabinet of the MUR, and representing the 5 hubs: Prof. Maria Chiara Carrozza, President of the National Research Council (CNR), Prof. Matteo Lorito, President of Naples’ Federico II University, Prof. Diego Bettoni, Vice President of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), Dr. Gianfranco Montanari, General Director of the National Center for Sustainable Mobility, based in Milan, and Prof. Rosario Rizzuto from Padua University.

The event also allowed to highlight Italy’s commitment in the promotion of science for sustainable and inclusive development with centers such as the The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste and the World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) in Perugia, which makes recommendations to officials about water management at the global scale.
