“With its 53rd site inscribed on the World Heritage List, Italy confirms its culture and beauty superpower role”, declared the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

“During the World Heritage Committee meeting which took place in Cracow, two new Italian properties have been inscribed on the World Heritage List. The first – the Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe – is a transnational site shared with eleven other European countries. The second, the Venetian Works of Defence between the 16th and 17th Centuries: Stato da Terra – Western Stato da Mar, is a masterpiece of Italian architecture.

The Italian  Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Angelino Alfano declared: « With its 53rd site, Italy still holds the record of the highest number of World heritage sites : a true culture and beauty superpower ».
