On 30 January 2026, the new headquarters of the Permanent Delegation of Italy to UNESCO were inaugurated at 250 bis Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris’s 7th arrondissement.
The new premises, conceived as an expression of Italian excellence, have been furnished with pieces provided by companies emblematic of “Made in Italy.” Several brands – including Fornasetti, Minotti, Riflessi, Poltrona Frau, Venini, and Carpanelli – supported the initiative as sponsors, lending iconic items from their collections. The Representation is therefore intended not only as a diplomatic mission, but also as a showcase of Italian excellence and a space open to dialogue with the worlds of culture, science, and the arts, helping to promote and project the Italian model in multilateral contexts.
Prior to the relocation, the Representation was housed on the first and second floors of the Hôtel de Galliffet, an elegant eighteenth-century hôtel particulier designed and built by the architect Legrand between 1776 and 1792, also located in the 7th arrondissement. From 1794 to 1821, the building served as the seat of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was home to Talleyrand’s office; its salons welcomed some of the most prominent figures of the era, including Talleyrand himself, Napoleon, Madame de Staël, and Chateaubriand.
