Virtual inauguration of the « Dante 700 » exhibition (April 9th 2pm)

We are delighted to invite you to save the date for the virtual inauguration of the « Dante 700 » exhibition that will take place on April 9 at 2 p.m. via Zoom, in the presence of ADG for Culture Mr Ernesto Ottone Ramírez from the Ségur Hall and of Italy’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affaires Mr Benedetto Della Vedova from Rome.

This event is part of the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of the death of the poet Dante Alighieri (1265-1321), to which UNESCO is associated.

The exhibition presents 20 photographs by photo reporter Massimo Sestini and the reproductions of a wooden portal from Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, decorated with the carved portrait of Dante upon a drawing by Sandro Botticelli. These artworks invite us to travel from past to present in the poet’s places, in order to discover his ever alive heritage, which speaks to all peoples.

The institutional presentations will be followed by a short interlude by a duet of flutists, Patrick Blanc and Samuel Casale, who will perform a few madrigals with historic instruments in order to give us a glimpse of the music that Dante listened to in his time.

The exhibition can be visited in the Ségur Hall until April 15 by members of the Permanent Delegations, in compliance with current sanitary dispositions.

Connection details for the inauguration will be forwarded to you shortly.

We look forward to meeting with you virtually to celebrate together this event dedicated to Culture, which reunites us all at UNESCO.

With kind regards,

Italian Permanent Delegation to UNESCO
