The 2018 edition of the Rossini Opera Festival, which is devoted to the 15th anniversary of the composer’s death, was presented at UNESCO in the presence of representatives of the 195 Member States.
In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Vincenza Lomonaco underlined the value of music as a founding element of every people’s identity and the creative energy of culture, which renews itself and passes on from one generation to the next, in the work of great composers as well as in its popular and traditional expressions.
The evening was characterized by Rossini opera airs and a gastronomic reception inspired to the “Rossini Gourmet” project, which was launched by the city of Pesaro to highlight the composer’s love for fine cooking.
Pesaro was named UNESCO Creative City for Music in 2017.
