« I am glad that Italy’s public channel RAI has devoted attention to the richness of our cultural heritage which belongs to UNESCO’s World Heritage List, with such a high-quality and high-impact show for our country’s image. The latter fully highlights the qualities to which the whole world recognizes us and which must make us proud of being citizens of an extra-ordinary country, which is a culture and beauty superpower.” Thus Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Angelino Alfano commented the broadcasting of « Wonders. The peninsula of treasures » on RAI1.
Minister Alfano also declared: “In 2017 our country has been on the forefront in many fields of competence of the Organization, starting from our role in defining UNESCO’s strategy concerning the so-called “culture blue helmets”. Italy has also been rewarded with the inscription of the Venitian works of defense (Bergamo, Palmanova and Peschiera del Garda) and of the ancient and primeval beech forests on the World Heritage List, as well as of the Art of the Neapolitain pizzaiolo on the Intangible cultural Heritage List of Humanity ».
