Recovered Treasures 36 unique artworks recovered by the Italian Carabinieri Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (TPC) exposed at UNESCO

From May 2 to 12, UNESCO hosts an exhibition entitled “Recovered Treasures”, which was sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by the Carabinieri Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (TPC). Its opening will take place on May 2, in the presence of the Italian Minister for Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, and of the Deputy General Commander of the Italian Carabinieri, General Vincenzo Coppola.
The exhibition presents 36 unique stolen or illegally exported artworks, both ancient and modern, that were recovered by the TPC Department. It represents a unique opportunity to admire the richness and variety of Italy’s cultural heritage and to present the work of the Carabinieri to the Permanent Delegations at UNESCO and the general public.
Panels and artworks descriptions provide insight on how each artwork was stolen or illicitly exported then recovered, on the work of the Carabinieri and illicit traffic in Italy.
The exhibition is open to the public from Monday to Friday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm in UNESCO’s Mirò Rooms (7, Place de Fontenoy, Paris).
