{"id":753,"date":"2015-07-31T11:45:20","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T09:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/delegazioneunesco.esteri.it\/news\/dalla_rappresentanza\/2015\/07\/vitealberello-2\/"},"modified":"2015-07-31T11:45:20","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T09:45:20","slug":"vitealberello-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/delegazioneunesco.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dalla_rappresentanza\/2015\/07\/vitealberello-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The traditional agricultural practice of cultivating the \u201cvite ad alberello\u201d of Pantelleria has been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (28 novembre 2014)."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The IX session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage which took place at UNESCO\u2019s headquarters on November 24-28 2014 voted for the inscription of the traditional agricultural practice of cultivating head-trained bush vines (\u201cvite ad alberello\u201d) of the community of Pantelleria on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.<BR>This traditional practice is transmitted through generations of vine growers and farmers of the Mediterranean island of Pantelleria and is shared by the whole community through rituals and festivals organized between July and September. <BR>The Italian Ministry for farming, food and forestry politics, Maurizio Martina, declared on the occasion: &#8220;This inscription represents a turning point at an international level. Finally, farming and rural-heritage values are acknowledged as key elements of a people\u2019s cultural heritage.
